BMC to relocate HQ to Atlanta from Boise, Idaho; CEO says decision is part of strategy to expand geographically, sees Georgia as a more central location with larger population base, large talent pool and fully accessible air travel
May 29, 2014
– BMC, one of the nation's leading providers of building materials and construction services, today announced that it is relocating its corporate headquarters from Boise, Idaho to Atlanta, Georgia. The relocation will be done on a phased basis with the executive team moving immediately. The Boise office will continue to remain operational.
"The decision to establish headquarters in Atlanta was made after very careful consideration by the Board. Atlanta was strategically chosen based on the fact that BMC is targeting additional growth beyond its current footprint. The Company's fast organic growth, need to fill key management positions to support that growth and expand geographically beyond BMC's current footprint made Atlanta the best choice," said Peter Alexander, chief executive officer of BMC. "Both management and the Board were unanimous that BMC required a more central location with a larger population base, a large talent pool and fully accessible air travel."
BMC operates in 16 markets in 10 western states, 8 of which are in the top 25 single family construction markets, and has in excess of 5,000 employees.
BMC, now headquartered in Atlanta, GA, is a best-in-class provider of diversified building materials, trusses and components, doors and millwork, and targeted construction and installation services. With a centralized internal structure and dedicated teams with a broad spectrum of experience within the supply chain, the company covers markets with multiple locations throughout the nation, ultimately providing value to its customers.
