AUGSBURG, Germany , May 27, 2014 (press release) – The best result, measuring can give, is a secure future. grapho metronic and manroland web systems strengthen their initiative at retrofits and the successful, broad product range.

Since 1992, grapho metronic is integrated to the manroland-family as a subcompany. Some of the highlights of the strong retrofit cooperation are drive concepts, a revolutionary, new and one-of-a-kind operating concept and the InlineControl Systems. This is one of the most comprehensive and strongest product ranges on the market.

InlineDensity Control
The ink density control system, InlineDensity Control, sets new standards for commercial printing. The highly precise and fully automatic control system determines real ink density data with only one measure across the full paper web. By doing this, it optimizes the printing process and the waste rates. The unique concept is used at approximately 90% of manroland web systems` commercial presses. A roll-out of the successful system for newspaper printing will come up soon. InlineDensity Control helps to achieve constantly higher printing quality in a fast and dynamic way. Cameras with high definition, LED-flash lighting and short measuring cycles combined with a robust construction make the system extra efficient.

InlineCutoff Control and InlineCutoff Control dynamic
Both system models automatically and precisely control the cut-off register. The drives for the highly dynamic folder guiding are regulated by using an additional measuring head at the folder. The cut-off register control feature “dynamic“ enables a fastest possible cut-off control, using the outboard section as a reference. This especially helps increasing the product quality, productivity and efficiency of the press.

E.g. waste rates after the reel change can be reduced by 30% to 80%, after blanket washing even up to 100% after mark recognition.

Furthermore, the waste rates when speeding up or slowing down the press can be reduced significantly. E.g. up to 450 copies per hour can be saved at 2.5 reel changes and blanket washing for every second reel.

Manuel Kosok moves to grapho metronic Management
The partnership between manroland web systems and grapho metronic will be even closer in the future. Manuel Kosok, former Head of Product Management & Project Engineering Automation at manroland web systems, will join the grapho metronic Management from June 1, 2014.

“manroland web systems is the only full-service provider for retrofits – and this for quite some time now. Our customers can access a broad hardware retrofit, the new mobile operating concept and InlineControl systems from the manroland-kit. What always comes first is cost-effectiveness for the customer. Many of our features show a ROI of less than one year“, Manuel Kosok points out. “Furthermore we constantly develop our product range. At this time, we work on a new hardware platform for PECOM, which will be introduced this fall. For spring 2015, we plan to roll-out the InlineDensity Control for newspaper printing.”
