DETROIT , May 26, 2014 () – North American PVC prices increased by an average of 3 cents/pound in Mar 2014 while PET prices dropped by a penny. Tightness in supply due to recent disruptions in production has led to the increase in PVC prices. Limited supplies of ethylene resulted in controlled distribution with customers by OxyVinyls and Westlake Chemicals Corp. US/Canadian sales of PVC in Jan-Feb 2014 were down by around 4%. Export sales decreased 13% while domestic sales increased less than 1%. Lower feedstock prices and weak demand in beverage caused the drop in PET bottle resin prices.
