Wisconsin-based Brunkow Cheese announces recall of 8-oz. tubs of Fayette Creamery Jalapeno Pepper Raw Milk Cheddar Cold Pack Cheese Spread because of undeclared soy
May 24, 2014
– Brunkow Cheese of Darlington, Wisconsin, is voluntarily recalling its 8 ounce tubs of Fayette Creamery brand Jalapeno Pepper Raw Milk Cheddar Cold Pack Cheese Spread because they may contain an undeclared soy ingredient. People who have allergies or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled Jalapeno Raw Milk Cheddar Cold Pack Cheese Spreads are distributed nationwide in retail stores and through direct sales on premise at Brunkow Cheese and at farmers markets.
The product comes in 8 ounce, clear plastic tubs marked with one of the following Sell By Dates and codes on the bottom:
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the soy containing product was distributed with a label that did not reveal the presence of soy. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by an over-sight in the company's labeling process.
Production of the product has been suspended until Brunkow Cheese is certain the problem has been corrected.
Consumers who have the recalled product are urged to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Brunkow Cheese at 608-776-3716 Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm.
