MONTEPLIER, Vermont , May 22, 2014 () – The U.S. Forest Service is helping to fund 20 conservation jobs this summer in Vermont's Green Mountain National Forest.

A $50,000 Forest Service Grant and $93,628 in matching funds will provide funding for four paid internships for people aged 18 to 22 and two crews of eight people each aged 16 to 22.

The young people are scheduled to work for a total of 5,600 hours on natural resources projects in the Green Mountain National Forest.

Forest Service staff and project partners will mentor the interns and serve as trainers, educators, and technical guides for the two youth crews that will perform a variety of conservation projects.

The work will be done on National Forest land in the counties of Addison, Bennington, Rutland, Washington, Windham, and Windsor.
