GHENT, Belgium , May 22, 2014 (press release) – Esko’s Kongsberg C digital finishing platform has been awarded as Best Large Format Finishing System by the European Digital Press Association (EDP).

Marian Zincke, Esko Vice President, Digital Finishing Business, says, “We are delighted with this industry recognition. We already knew the Kongsberg C leapfrogs competitive tables in many ways but it is reassuring to see this acknowledged by the EDP association. We believe the 'C' in Kongsberg C stands for Capability, Capacity, Consistency, Choice and a Complete solution. Since its launch it has been received with great enthusiasm by our customers.”

Esko Kongsberg C provides the highest versatility for all sign, display and packaging applications. One of the most noticeable new features is the innovative composite traverse technology that provides the fastest throughput along with the highest quality and precision in cutting and routing compared to all other systems of the same size. New models available include the Kongsberg C64 that handles 126” wide x 126” long materials (3.210 mm by 3.200 mm); and the Kongsberg C60 model, accommodating 126” wide x 63” long sizes (3.210 mm x 1.600 mm). The Kongsberg C was first introduced to the market in 2013, and customer shipments around the world started in 2014.

These completely re-engineered and fully-featured superwide digital finishing solutions have been designed for 24/7 production and semi-industrial environments. Kongsberg C60 and C64 models feature a unique, extremely rigid, carbon-composite traverse beam that assures excellent precision and supports high speed, fast acceleration, high quality creasing, and exclusive, powerful 3kW milling capabilities. High quality finishing results are due to no left/right/middle variances as a result of traverse bending and no deceleration when demanding materials are processed, with the ability to handle the most complex jobs without sacrificing quality or throughput.

Reproteam of Austria is an early adopter of the technology and has been quick to reap the rewards. Michael Hansbauer, owner and managing director, says. "We have many stand builders among our clients. They prefer to have printed panels and fabrics in one piece, creating an overall image effect without interruptions. With the new Kongsberg C64, we can meet these requirements perfectly and stay ahead of the competition, maintaining our position as a provider of top quality displays, publicity and advertising products.”
