UK-based Sirane planning 'major expansion,' launches Sirane North America subsidiary; company to open additional manufacturing in US before end of 2014, currently has warehousing secured in California and the Midwest, says managing director

A MAJOR expansion into North America is underway at Sirane, as the company’s innovative food packaging division looks to build on spectacular growth across the Atlantic.

Just months after recruiting a business development team to expand the business Stateside, Sirane North America Inc has been founded – with manufacturing in the US to follow soon. The move comes following a staggering level of interest from the US and Canada.

Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Interest in Sirane from across the Atlantic has been huge, and in just a few months the US team has generated a buzz across the region.

“The North American market has interested us for a long time, and now seems the perfect opportunity to take those next important steps and establish ourselves in the US and Canada. The level of interest in Sirane means the future looks very bright.

“The level of interest already, and the sales potential we have in North America, means that we intend to open additional manufacturing in the US before the end of 2014. In the meantime, we already have warehousing secured in California and the Mid-West.”

Sirane’s food packaging solutions serve a range of sectors within the industry, including: meat, seafood, poultry, fresh produce, retail, ready meals and convenience food.

From absorbent meat pads to dual-compartment microwave cooking bags, the company has a wide range of innovative solutions for packaging food throughout the supply chain.

Sirane’s business development manager for North America is Adam Green. He said: “Sirane’s innovative food packaging solutions have caused a real stir in the US market.

“The company’s cooking bag range for the microwave or oven is proving to be particularly attractive, as have our range of absorbent pads offering additional shelf-life.

“Sirane’s retail range, Thinking-Cooking – which includes items such as crock-pot liners and barbecue bags in packs to be sold direct to the public – is also proving popular with retailers in the United States and will hit the shelves in US stores soon.”

Sirane is an innovative packaging design, development, manufacture and solutions company which specialises in areas including absorbency and ovenable/microwaveable products, compostable packaging, films, boards, absorbent pads, and much more.

The company – which is based in Telford, Shropshire in the UK - has four divisions: food packaging; medical and healthcare; horticultural and industrial.
