Coal prices in five U.S. coal commodity regions in the week ended May 9 were as follows versus the week ended May 2, according to figures from the U.S. Energy Information Administration supplied by SNL Energy and reported May 12.
Average weekly coal commodity spot prices, in dollars per short ton:
Central Appalachia (CAPP) 12,500 Btu, 1.2 SO2: US$60.58, unchanged from week ended May 2
Northern Appalachia (NAPP) 13,000 Btu, <3.0 SO2: US$68.17, unchanged from week ended May 2
Illinois Basin 11,800 Btu, 5.0 SO2: US$46.02, unchanged from week ended May 2
Powder River Basin (PRB) 8,800 Btu 0.8 SO2: US$13.02, unchanged from week ended May 2
Uinta Basin 11,700 SO2: US$36.73, unchanged from week ended May 2
