McDonald's restaurants in California areas of Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto testing new seasonings for its fries; seasonings include garlic parmesan, buffalo and ranch; seasoned fries to also be made available in St. Louis

SACRAMENTO, California , May 9, 2014 (press release) – McDonald’s restaurants in the greater Sacramento, Stockton, and Modesto area bring bold flavors to World Famous Fries®

McDonald’s restaurants throughout Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto are “thinking outside the fry box” as they introduce an exciting new menu item beginning today.

Shakin’ Flavor Fries allows guests to customize McDonald’s World Famous Fries with one of three delicious seasoning flavors: Garlic Parmesan, Spicy Buffalo or Zesty Ranch. Each bold new flavor enhances the great taste of McDonald’s Fries.

Upon ordering Shakin’ Flavor Fries, guests will receive an additional Fry Bag and seasoning packet of their chosen flavor. Customers can then tear open the packet, pour in the seasoning and fries into the Fry Bag and shake up the flavor for a fun and interactive taste experience.

“This is an exciting time for McDonald’s in Northern California as our customers get to be one of the first in the entire nation as part of a test to experience Shakin’ Flavor Fries,” said local McDonald’s restaurant owner Steve Ramirez. “This has been such a huge hit in the Asia markets so we lobbied to bring this to the Sacramento market specifically so our guests could enjoy customizing their French Fries in a brand new, fun way.”

Shakin’ Flavor Fries will also be available in the St. Louis, Mo. Region and for the past decade has been a customer favorite in McDonald’s restaurants in Asia. The menu item came from popular seasoned fries in Asia known as Shake Shake, which first debuted in 2005 in Hong Kong before spreading into other countries including China, India and Australia.

“McDonald’s is known for its World Famous French Fries and now our customers have the option to fully customize their Fries with the seasoning of their choice,” said Ramirez.

The first chance to try Shakin’ Flavor Fries will be on May 9 when guests can receive a free seasoning of their choice with any purchase of McDonald’s World Famous Fries. The promotion will continue through May 11. The seasoning packets can then be purchased a la carte for 25 cents.

To celebrate the arrival of Shakin’ Flavor Fries, the Sacramento market will host a Launch Party on Saturday, May 17 from 7-9 p.m. at the McDonald’s restaurant located at 1721 Howe Ave. near Arden Fair Mall. The party will feature a Shakin’ Flavor Food Truck passing out free samples, as well as a DJ, photo booth, games and activities and performances by local break dance crews.

Beginning on May 15, the Shakin’ Flavor Food Truck will be touring the Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto areas over a five-day period to hand out free samples of Shakin’ Flavor Fries. Dates, times and locations of the food truck will be announced via Twitter at @mcd_norcal.

Fans are encouraged to share their excitement over Shakin’ Flavor Fries via social media by following @mcd_norcal on Twitter or McDonald’s Nor Cal on Vine and posting photos and videos as they enjoy their fries. Guests throughout the region will also have a chance to win prizes through a variety of contests hosted on both social media channels.
