Restaurant sales in Sweden rise 4.8% year-over-year to US$1.31B in March, data shows; roadside restaurants, coffee shops show strongest sales trends among categories at 11.1% and 10.7% growth, respectively

, May 5, 2014 () – Sales on the restaurant market in Sweden rose by 4.8% to SEK 8.51bn (EUR 942.27mn USD 1.31bn) in March 2014 compared with March 2013. Roadside restaurants and coffee shops showed the strongest sales trends of all restaurant categories, plus 11.1% and plus 10.7% respectively, while sales at fast food outlets dropped by 1.2%. This is shown in figures from trade association Grocery Manufacturers of Sweden (DLF), wholesale company Svensk Cater, tourism industry organization Visita and Statistics Sweden (SCB).
