WASHINGTON , May 4, 2014 (press release) – Koch To Answer Questions on His Experience as an Entrepreneur

Samuel Adams Founder and Brewer Jim Koch will be a featured speaker during the Washington, D.C. leg of National Small Business Week, hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) on Friday, May 16. The event will be held in Washington at the FHI360 Conference Center where Koch will answer questions about his experience as an entrepreneur.

Jim Koch is a sixth generation brewer who has followed in his family's brewing footsteps. In 1984, Koch brewed the first batch of Samuel Adams Boston Lager in his kitchen, the beer that ultimately led to the American craft beer revolution. Thirty years later, Samuel Adams is one of the most successful and awarded American-owned breweries in the United States. Despite his success, Koch hasn't forgotten how hard it is for budding entrepreneurs who have a dream and a passion to start and run a successful small business—which is why in 2008 he created Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream, a micro-lending and coaching/mentoring program for food, beverage, craft brewing, and hospitality small businesses.

Every year since 1963, the SBA salutes outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from all 50 states and U.S territories during National Small Business Week. This year, in addition to other SBA regional and local small business week events being held around the country, the cities of: Boston, San Francisco, Kansas City, and Washington, D.C. are hosting national events the week of May 12-16.

The Washington D.C. event scheduled for May 15-16 will also feature entrepreneurship workshops, panel discussions, award ceremonies and business matchmaking sessions for
small businesses to market their goods and services to federal agencies and prime contractors.

For more information on the national events please visit: www.sba.gov/smallbusinessweek. Sessions will also be live-streamed on SBA's website at www.sba.gov.
