Cartonboard market in France somewhat slower on average in April that in January and February, and business weaker in folding boxboard than in white-lined chipboard; pending packaging legislation thought to be a factor

LOS ANGELES , May 1, 2014 () – France’s cartonboard market was a bit slower on average in April than it was in the first two months of this year, though the levels of orders and backlogs vary among producers, Euwid reported on April 30.

Pending changes to paperboard packaging legislation have caused a few customers to be somewhat more cautious when ordering, as they do not want to increase inventories.

Overall first-quarter demand tended to be weaker for folding boxboard (GC) than for white-lined chipboard (GD), based on industry data; but some GC producers said they were quite busy during that time.
