Graphic Packaging invests US$8.9M in new equipment, machinery at folding carton plant in Lumberton, North Carolina, to help raise production capacity by US$20M/year

AMMAN, Jordan , April 30, 2014 () –

Graphic Packaging International Inc., a consumer packaging manufacturing company, announced that it invested $8.9million into its Lumberton facility.

The company invested in new equipment and machinery at its folding carton plant in Lumberton. The company said the investment will help it raise production capacity by $20 million yearly.

According to a statement from Graphic Packaging, the investment makes the company more competitive in the international and domestic markets, secures manufacturing jobs at the plant and sets the stage for future expansion.

The plant underwent a major expansion in 2003that has continued to grow over the past decade.

According to the company, Graphic Packaging employs 258 people in Lumberton currently.

Greg Cummings, economic development director for Robeson County said, "The county and city are very fortunate that corporate officials chose the Lumberton plant for their expansion. The officials also stated the location and workforce played a major role.
