HOUSTON , April 30, 2014 (press release) – Ryland Homes (NYSE:RYL) Houston, in its pursuance of implementing best practices to preserve and protect the environment, has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a 2014 ENERGY STAR® Certified Homes Market Leader. This award pays tribute to the 719 ENERGY STAR® certified homes built by Ryland Homes in 2013, and recognizes Ryland's continued support of and contribution to energy-efficient construction and environmental protection.

Ryland's signature energy-saving initiative, known as HouseWorks®, ensures that every new home is built following the leading industry standards in energy efficiency. The program guarantees the use of energy-efficient materials and features, such as ENERGY STAR® appliances, LoE windows, Low VOC paint and much more. Through this initiative, Ryland has saved homeowners approximately $215,700 on utility bills and reduced 2.67 million pounds of carbon dioxide each year.
