LEXINGTON, Kentucky , April 28, 2014 (press release) – World’s first, one-of-a-kind, award-winning durable machine marries two processes in one

Masterwork USA, a leading manufacturer of folding carton and packaging equipment headquartered in Charlotte, NC, is seeing a surge of interest in its MK21060STE Duopress foil stamping and die cutting machine with stripping as a smart, efficient, economical, automated post-press piece of finishing equipment for the printing and packaging industries. The Duopress is available in two models: the 21060 STE, which can emboss/stamp/die cut/strip, and the 21060 SER, which can emboss/stamp/die cut/strip plus blanking. Recently, Masterwork added a new Duopress customer to its roster of impressive clients with another sale.

“No one believed that we could manufacture a strong, durable machine that combines both foil stamping and die cutting in one process,” says Carol Jiang, vice president of Masterwork USA. “But our expert engineers were able to design a one-pass integrated system combining the platen through the embossing and foil stamping onto the die cutting and stripping functions. The two-platen system makes the machine a versatile production platform for creating high-quality packaging. Now that Masterwork has proven that it can be accomplished, we have printers and packaging printers lining up to see the Duopress in action. They are amazed at the productivity and quality that Duopress can deliver. Our patent-pending machine relieves the bottlenecks on the production floor and allows users to produce a faster high-quality product with less waste.”

The MK21060STE Duopress foil stamping and die cutting machine with stripping is the world’s first and only double-station machine designed with a one-pass integrated system combining the platen through the embossing and foil stamping onto the die cutting and stripping functions. The two-platen system boasts a maximum output speed of 6,000 sheets per hour, but because multiple passes with two platens run at one time, users realize an output of 12,000 sheets per hour. Its optimized pressure adjustment provides a better foil stamping result and its patented design of the adjusting mechanism ensures that the two units have high register accuracy. A separate power-driven waste conveyor belt is capable of removing waste at a high speed.

“For those seeking to create high-end, value-added packaging for the cosmetic, tobacco, and liquor markets, the MK21060STE Duopress foil stamping and die cutting machine with stripping provides the solution,” says Jiang. “And that’s just the beginning. We’re seeing trade shops and finishing firms using the Duopress with great success. And we’re being recognized by our peers. In the fall of 2013, the Duopress was chosen as a winner in the PRINT 13 Must See ‘Ems competition, one of the premier graphic arts awards.”
