US production of major plastic resins for March down 0.4% year-over-year to 6.4 billion lbs., according to ACC; year-to-date production down 2.1% to 18.5 billion lbs.

WASHINGTON , April 28, 2014 (press release) – U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 6.4 billion pounds during March 2014, a decrease of 0.4 percent compared to the same month in 2013, according to statistics released today by the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 18.5 billion pounds, a 2.1 percent decrease as compared to the same period in 2013.

Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 6.1 billion pounds during March 2014, a decrease of 0.3 percent compared to the same month one year earlier. Year-to-date sales and captive use was 18.4 billion pounds, a 0.7 percent decrease as compared to the same period in 2013.
