Does your favorite stream or trail need improvement? The Forest Service is providing a unique opportunity for the public to propose projects designed to improve Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest lands and the economies of local counties.
The Forest is requesting project proposals from individuals, non-profit organizations, and local governments. Proposals will be accepted through May 30, 2014. Project proposal forms are available at www.fs.usda.gov/uwcnf
Project funding is made available through Title II funds under the reauthorized Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act. Title II projects fund work such as restoring watersheds, removing invasive weeds, enhancing recreation sites, and maintaining roads and trails. The funds are made available by Cache, Juab, Tooele, Utah, and Wasatch counties which receive federal funds based on the percentage of land in federal ownership, timber receipt payments, and per capita income.
Additional information concerning Title II project is available at the Forest Service website, www.fs.usda.gov/uwcnf, or by contacting the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest at
801-999-2113.
