Two men previously arrested for allegedly breaking into former Harbor Paper mill in Hoquiam, Washington, and damaging equipment used by company that is demolishing the mill, recently charged with burglary and trafficking in stolen property

ABERDEEN, Washington , April 22, 2014 (The Daily World) – Two Hoquiam men have been charged with breaking into the former Harbor Paper mill.

Michael L. Simpson, 50, and James J. Anderson, 54, have been charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree trafficking in stolen property. They're accused of breaking into the mill and stealing or damaging equipment used by the demolition company in the process of tearing down the mill.

Employees identified Simpson and Anderson as the ones they had seen on the premises, but the men denied being there or taking wire. Anderson allegedly said they were out looking for his dog, but had no details about the dog and "could only describe his dog's name as 'Something,' " Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myers said. Officers checked the area where the men had been spotted by employees and found about 200 pounds of copper wire, half already stripped and half prepared to be stripped. Officers confirmed it was stolen from the mill.

Simpson and Anderson are held in Grays Harbor County Jail with $10,000 bail.
