April 17, 2014 () – The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) has so far been able to mobilize more than four billion baht worth of funds to help rice farmers still unpaid for their pledged crops.

The BACC has opened three kinds of accounts in its branches nationwide to receive the funds since March 5. Those who wish to help can choose to deposit their money into three different kinds of accounts: interest-bearing and non-interest-bearing accounts, as well as donation.

As of Thursday 17, more than 4.6 billion baht have been deposited into those accounts.

According to the bank, it has planned to raise 20 billion baht in order to, for the time being, pay the farmers joining the rice pledging program; until a new government is formed.
