Sports Authority opens two stores in Puerto Rico, bringing total number of locations to 468 in 43 states, Puerto Rico

ENGLEWOOD, Colorado , April 9, 2014 (press release) – Sports Authority, one of the largest full-line sporting goods retailers in the United States and Puerto Rico, announced the grand opening of its two newest locations in San Juan, PR and Carolina, PR this past Saturday, April 5. The new stores are located in the Plaza Las Américas and Plaza Carolina shopping centers, respectively.

Equipped with improved store designs for effortless navigation, great customer service and extensive product selections, these new Sports Authority stores are dedicated to bringing all things sporting good to the San Juan and Carolina communities. The stores will feature specialty sport shops with products from top brands like Nike, Under Armour, Puma, adidas, Columbia and many more.

Over the weekend, Sports Authority celebrated the grand openings by awarding the first 250 customers on Saturday, April 5 and the first 125 customers on Sunday, April 6 with Mystery Bucks that ranged up to $500 in value. Hourly $100 gift card drawings also took place from 12 to 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday, plus customers entered for a chance to win a $500 Sports Authority shopping spree.

Sports Authority recently hired more than 175 employees for the Plaza Las Américas and Plaza Carolina stores, for a total of more than 315 jobs in Puerto Rico.

Customers are invited to join The League, Sports Authority’s loyalty program, which gives members a point for every dollar spent. Within a quarterly period, members who earn 100 points or more will receive 5% back on all in-store purchases.

The regular store hours of the Plaza Las Américas store are Monday through Saturday 9am to 9pm and Sunday 11am to 7pm, and the regular hours of the Plaza Carolina store are Monday through Saturday 9am to 9pm and Sunday 11am to 6pm.
