At IPEX 2014 held in London March 24-29, Presstek introduced JT-BL, a metal plate that images on a wide range of Epson inkjet printers using the printer’s original ink cartridges. The JT-BL plate enables for a low-cost, easy-to-use CTP solution with an extremely small footprint. After imaging, plates go directly to press for impressions of up to 5,000, and baking in a standard oven for impressions between 5,000 and 20,000. Visitors to the Presstek stand saw the JT-BL plate being imaged on an Epson 3880 inkjet printer.
Product Marketing Manager, Alon Kahn of VIM Technologies, a Presstek Company, notes that JT-BL plates are chemistry-free and provide an excellent alternative to polyester platemaking solutions at a very low investment. The system is compact, offers a streamlined workflow and provides up to 175 lpi and FM screening. Customers who image JT-BL plates on Epson inkjet printers are highly efficient, also using that same printer for printing posters, stickers, proofs and more.
