WASHINGTON , April 4, 2014 (press release) – Members of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection and Security Technologies today took an important next step in providing stability and certainty to chemical security by approving H.R. 4007, the “Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards Authorization and Accountability Act of 2014.” The legislation provides for a three-year authorization of the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS).

The following statement can be attributed to the American Chemistry Council (ACC):

“We applaud Committee Chairman McCaul, Subcommittee Chairman Meehan, Representative Green and the other members of the Subcommittee for their leadership and for approving this important bill, which will provide much needed stability to the CFATS program. This carefully crafted legislation will help the Department of Homeland Security address key issues and continue to make significant progress on improving the existing framework for regulating chemical security under CFATS.

“We urge the members of the full Committee on Homeland Security to demonstrate their shared commitment to safety and security by supporting H.R. 4007.”
