Asian malt whisky sector sees 46.7% rise between 2003 and 2012, according to new report

LONDON , April 2, 2014 () – The Asian malt whisky sector has been leading the global malt whisky market, with a 46.7% rise between 2003 and 2012, according to a report from Just-Drinks and International Wine & Spirit Research. According to the report, the Asian malt whisky sector saw the highest growth in 2012, of 7.8mn cases, estimating that Asia will continue to see 'very dynamic' compound annual growth of 20.2%. Taiwan registered the highest sales of malt whisky during the period, with 'healthy growth' in other Asian countries, the report said.
