China's January paper and paperboard exports up 21% year-over-year, to 491,000 tonnes, with double-digit hikes in newsprint, kraftliner, corrugating medium, premium coated paper; January's total export value up 22% from year ago, to US$620M: China Customs

Based on data from China Customs, in Jan 2014, China exported a total of 491,000 mts of paper & paperboard (not cut to length), jumping 21% year on year. Export value was US$ 620 million, jumping 22% year on year. Among which, export of newsprint skyrocketed to 8,277 mts, surging 18.8 times than before. Export of Kraft linerboard was 16,000 mts, jumping 46.1% year on year. Export of paper with mineral coating was 300,000 mts, up 24.7% year on year. Export of corrugating medium was 5,086 mts, jumping 69.4% year on year. Export of premium coated paper was 112,000 mts, surging 19.2% year on year.

In Jan. 2014, China exported 47,000 mts of paper with mineral coating to ASEAN, up 37.9% year on year. China exported 20,000 mts of paper with mineral coating to India, down 4.6% year on year. China exported 30,000 mts of coated paper, up 8.6% year on year. China exported 21,000 mts of coated paper to Turkey, surging 100.9% year on year. China exported 18,000 mts of coated paper to EU, jumping 21.3% year on year.

In Jan 2014, China exported 23,000 mts of premium coated paper to Japna, dipping 2% year on year. China exported 16,000 mts of premium coated paper to ASEAN, jumping 38.6% year on year and representing 14.2% of total exports.

In Jan 2014, China exported 4177 mts of Kraft linerboard to ASEAN, slipping 23.6% year on year. China exported 3666 mts of Kraft linerboard to Iran, surging 80.1% year on year.

In Jan 2014, 138,000 mts of paper and paperboard were exported through Nanjing Port, up 35% year on year. Export value was US$ 130 million, jumping 35% year on year. Shenzhen Port and Shanghai Port ranked second and third at an export value of US$ 86.97 million and US$ 74.31 million.

In Jan 2014, 95,000 mts of paper with mineral coating were exported through Nanjing Port, jumping 30.6% year on year. 3,344 mts of corrugating medium were exported through Shenzhen Port, jumping 25.5% year on year. 2822 mts of newsprint were exported through Guangzhou Port while 7,376 mts of Kraft linerboard were exported through Shenzhen Port, jumping 14.3% year on year.

In Jan 2014, foreign funded firms in China exported 335,000 mts of paper & paperboard, jumping 16% year on year. They exported 219,000 mts of paper with mineral coating, up 21.3% year on year, and exported 6,090 mts of newsprint, surging 1198 times. They also exported 6,058 mts of Kraft linerboard, up 2.7% year on year.

In Jan 2014, 36.8% of China’s export of paper and paperboard concentrated in top ten paper firms. Among which, Gold East Paper Jiangsu) and UPM (China) ranked 1st ansd2nd. Gold Huasheng Paper (Suzhou Industrial Park) and Ningbo APP co ranked 3rd and 4th. APRIl (Guangdong) Co and Hainan Jinhai Pulp and Paper Co ranked 5th and 6th. The last four were Ningbo Chung Hwa Pulp & Paper Corporation, Shandong Sun Paper, Shouguang Meilun Paper Co., Ltd and Shandong Chenming Paper Group Co., Ltd.
