Klausner Lumber One LLC has obtained a building permit from the Suwannee County Building Department and could soon begin construction on a sawmill that will be located at the catalyst site in Northwestern Suwannee County.
The catalyst site is located northwest of the I-10 and US 90 interchange. CenterState Bank in Jacksonville owns approximately 236 acres at the site, the county owns approximately 287 acres (25 acres not on catalyst site), and 120 acres was deeded to Klausner Lumber One LLC.
It was previously reported by County Administrator Randy Harris the general contractor for Klausner is on site and ready to begin construction immediately. The company has installed underground utilities and is ready to begin vertical construction within the coming days.
Klausner obtained a commercial permit, number 38814. The company paid $14,563.11 for the permit, with a state fee of $436.89, totaling $15,000.
According to the documentation, the permit becomes null and void if work or construction authorized is not commenced within six months, or if work is suspended or abandoned for a period of six months at any time after work is started.
"Your failure to record a notice of commencement may result in your paying twice for improvements to your property," the permit states.
Klausner has launched their efforts to begin the hiring process.
According to CareerSource North Florida, Klausner will soon be accepting applications for employment. Job seekers are invited to attend the Klausner Career Opportunities Event at Suwannee-Hamilton Technical Center, 415 Pinewood Drive SW, Live Oak, on Friday, April 4, from 1-7 p.m., and on Saturday, April 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. At this event, attendees will hear from Klausner Lumber One LLC representatives about their corporation and learn more about their career opportunities.
Klausner is expected to begin hiring the first shift in the second quarter of 2014. By the end of 2015, their projected target is to hire a total of 350 employees over a four shift rotation, CNF stated.
