HANOVER, Pennsylvania , March 4, 2014 () – A fire at Glatfelter Paper Company caused minimal damage to the facility Sunday night, said North Codorus Township Fire Chief Larry Wildasin.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the company's log receiving area at 5689 York Road around 5:45 p.m. By 7:15 p.m., the fire was under control and crews were mopping up hot spots, according to York County 911.

Officials believe the fire started when crews were doing some welding and cutting on equipment.

"A spark must have got down into the sawdust and ignited," Wildasin said.

Red Cross volunteers offered refreshments and a place to rest for more than 60 emergency responders at the scene, according to a news release.
