Jerez de los Caballeros interested in La Seda de Barcelona's Spain-based plants including 170,000 tonnes/year PET polymer facility in El Prat de Llobregat and 200,000 tonnes/year Industrias Quimicas Asociadas feedstock chemicals plant in Tarragona

LONDON , February 27, 2014 (Plastics and Rubber Weekly (CBNB Abstracts)) – Jerez de los Caballeros has expressed its intentions of acquiring two plants from La Seda de Barcelona (LSB), the bankrupt PET packaging group based in Spain. The two plants include the company's 170,000 tonnes/y PET polymer facility in El Prat de Llobregat and the Industrias Quimicas Asociadas LSB (IQA), a 200,000 tonnes/y feedstock chemicals plant in Tarragona. IQA's facility is capable of producing glycols (95,000 tonnes/y) and ethylene oxide (130,000 tonnes/y). Jerez de los Caballeros has offered EUR 15 M to purchase the said plants.
