Nampak announces ownership of Alucan beverage can plant in Agbara, Nigeria; plant has capacity to manufacture 1 billion cans/year for beer, carbonated soft drinks

– As part of Nampak’s continuing strategy of expanding its African footprint, the company today announced that it had acquired ownership of the Alucan beverage can plant in Agbara, Nigeria. The plant has the capacity to manufacture one billion cans per annum and boasts the latest technology to supply Nigerian consumers with world-class beverage cans for beer and carbonated soft drinks. Nampak is the sole owner and operator of the recently completed plant, which will initially operate under the name Alucan Packaging Limited trading as Nampak Bevcan Nigeria.

Nampak currently has operations in 12 African countries, outside of South Africa. These operations have been generating revenue of almost R3bn each year.
Alucan operates an eight colour, two-piece single aluminium beverage can-making line in Agbara, Lagos, Nigeria that serves the carbonated soft drinks, malt and beer industries in Nigeria. The plant has the capacity to accommodate a second line, doubling its capacity to two billion cans per annum, once demand has grown as is expected.
