MOSCOW , February 26, 2014 () – Ukraine has suspended the certification of live pigs and pork products for shipment to Russia due to an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF), which essentially means that shipments have stopped, a notice that Russia's Federal Veterinary and Phyto-Sanitary Oversight Service sent to the heads of its regional departments indicates.

Information about the resumption of certification will be provided in another notification.

At the end of January, after the reports of ASF in Ukraine, the Russian watchdog asked the Ukrainian veterinary service to suspend certification of pigs and pork products. The Ukrainian service made this decision on February 3.
