Domtar Corp. today announced a US$20/tonne increase for North America for its bleached softwood kraft pulp (BSKP) grades, according to buyer information.
This would put Domtar’s prices at $1,030/tonne for northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) and $990/tonne for southern bleached softwood kraft (SBSK).
Domtar is the first known pulp producer to announce a March 1 price increase for North America.
Beginning last week, some BSKP producers have announced $10/tonne March 1 price hikes for China.
Domtar manufactures market pulp at mills in Canada and the U.S., including NBSK, SBSK, southern bleached hardwood kraft (SBHK), fluff pulp, and specialty pulp. It said on its website that in 2013, it sold approximately 1.5 million tonnes to customers in more than 30 countries worldwide.
