NEW YORK and LONDON , February 21, 2014 (Chemical Week Business Daily) – Williams Partners has postponed the restart of its Geismar, LA, olefins plant to June, according to the company’s fourth-quarter earnings release. The steam cracker had been expected to go online in April. The extended outage will keep ethylene tight in Louisiana, but the return to service of Chevron’s Evangeline pipeline early in the second quarter will increase ethylene supply from Texas. Williams took the plant offline after an explosion last June. The company has meanwhile been rebuilding the unit while also completing a previously announced expansion that will increase the plant's ethylene capacity by 600 million lbs/year to a total of 1.95 billion lbs/year.
