LOS ANGELES , February 25, 2014 () – Some demolition work has started at Svenska Cellulosa Aktieboaget’s (SCA) Oughtibridge Paper Mill property in Sheffield, England, reported the Sheffield Telegraph on Feb. 16.

The mill, which is scheduled to close in 2015, has not made paper since the floods in 2007.

The buildings that are being razed have high levels of asbestos. Demolition is expected to be under way for several weeks. Next month, temporary traffic lights will be installed on the road fronting the mill property.

Last year, SCA was still using the site to convert parent rolls brought in from other mills into toilet paper, paper towels, wiper rolls and medical rolls, according to Industry Intelligence Inc.’s archives.

SCA acquired the mill site as part of its acquisition of Georgia-Pacific LLC’s European tissue operations in 2012.
