Daio Paper Corp. said Tuesday that it plans to resume recruiting university graduates in April 2015, hiring about 100 graduates for career-track jobs.
The major Japanese paper maker plans to increase the workforce at its home-use paper operations, which include disposable diapers.
It halted such recruitment in the spring of 2013 and 2014 to concentrate on improving its management, following a financial scandal caused by huge loans involving a former chairman of the company.
Daio Paper suffered a net loss of 18.1 billion yen in fiscal 2010 that ended in March 2011, but its earnings are growing again, backed by increasing sales of disposable diapers for adults in Japan and for babies overseas.
The company has decided on the recruitment drive as efforts to improve management, such as elimination and integration of affiliated companies and job cuts, have been successful.END
