Yorkshire Wolds brewery, Wold Top Brewery has added yet another award to its trophy cabinet after its Gift Box packaging won best Pack Design Award at Beverage Packaging Awards 2013.
The innovative packaging is made from MirriNor, a silver laminated board that combines a high quality, biodegradable metallic film with a microflute corrugated board that combines on shelf presence with strength and environmental benefits.
The Award ceremony recognised and commended those showing innovation with new beverage packaging ideas. The winners were selected from a shortlist of multiple entries for each category by a judging panel consisting of Packaging Today, Inside Drinks and Arena International. The Wold Top Brewery pack beat Schweppes Heritage Original Tonic Bottle II, Schweppes and ACDC, by Karlsberg Brauerei to take the top award.
Gill Mellor, owner at Wold Top Brewery commented “The team at MirriNor really helped us get the best out of the new MirriNor material and brought in a cardboard engineer who designed a box that is lighter and stronger than anything we have used before. In addition, the flexible properties of MirriNor allowed the cardboard engineer to create corrugated tabs within the box that hold the bottles in place. This is great, as we know that when they arrive at retail all the bottles will be the right way round and showing the correct label”.
The gift pack comprises best selling beers including Wold Top Bitter, Wold Gold, Headland Red and Anglers’ Reward.
