Pioneer Hi Bred International issued US patent for 'soybean variety XB25G12'

– United States Patent no. 8,653,338, issued on Feb. 18, was assigned to Pioneer Hi Bred International Inc (Johnston, Iowa).
"Soybean variety XB25G12" was invented by Donald Kyle (Princeton, Ill.), Kathryn Anne Forth (Ohio, Ill.) and Paul A. Stephens (Urbandale, Iowa).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A novel soybean variety, designated XB25G12 is provided. Also provided are the seeds of soybean variety XB25G12, cells from soybean variety XB25G12, plants of soybean XB25G12, and plant parts of soybean variety XB25G12. Methods provided include producing a soybean plant by crossing soybean variety XB25G12 with another soybean plant, methods for introgressing a transgenic trait, a mutant trait, and/or a native trait into soybean variety XB25G12, methods for producing other soybean varieties or plant parts derived from soybean variety XB25G12, and methods of characterizing soybean variety XB25G12. Soybean seed, cells, plants, germplasm, breeding lines, varieties, and plant parts produced by these methods and/or derived from soybean variety XB25G12 are further provided."
The patent was filed on March 1, 2012, under Application No. 13/409,287.
