Gilson have announced the release of two new packaging formats for their high purity “Diamond” pipette tips that both address the needs of modern laboratories for ecologically conservative packaging and a smaller bench space footprint.
The new tip formats have been designed with economy in mind and produce much less waste than traditional packaging. The “Reload” pack is ideally suited to high throughput multichannel pipette work with the user simply placing each stacked rack on to a reusable empty base; the convex rack profile allows easy tip loading for multichannels when a rocking motion is employed eliminating problems of “hammering on” tips and of tips inconsistently attaching across channels. This extremely compact box uses 70% less packaging than regular racked tips, sits easily on even the smallest workbench and significantly closes the price gap between racked and loose tips.
The second new configuration is for laboratories with less intensive tip use. Each 96 place rack is blister sealed to protect the tips from the laboratory environment until needed. Again the tips are placed on the reusable empty base to provide a stable platform from which to load the tips. With sterile and filter tips also included in the “Blister” refill range these tips will suit the majority of pipetting tasks in practice today.
