UK-based narrow web printing press and converting machinery manufacturer Edale now uses Fujifilm's UVivid Flexo JD inks on its Flexo Line presses; the UV inks provide quality images at a lower ink volume, Edale officials say

WHITELEY, England , February 6, 2014 (press release) – Leading UK manufacturer of narrow web printing presses and converting machinery, Edale has adopted Fujifilm’s UVivid Flexo JD inks for use on its ‘Flexo Line’ range of presses on display in its showroom in Whitely, Hampshire.

UVivid Flexo JD is a high quality UV curing flexo ink system for narrow web printers, which has been developed to give the highest performance across an extensive range of UV flexo machinery, complementary press products and substrates.

James Boughton, managing director at Edale, comments: “We were impressed by the high colour strength offered by Fujifilm’s UVivid Flexo JD inks, which has already enabled us to reduce ink volumes without compromising image quality.” He adds: “UVivid Flexo JD inks guarantee consistent colour reproduction across the different flexo presses available in our showroom and allow us to achieve reliable and stable performance.”

Fujifilm’s UVivid Flexo JD inks are suitable for a wide array of applications, including self-adhesive labels, sachets and pouches, unsupported films, low shrink sleeves and in-mould labels, and are available as Pantone(r) mixing, process or metallic colours. Edale has also adopted Fujifilm’s UVivid Flexo Supernova White, an ultra-opaque flexo printable ink that can replace rotary screen white ink, and allows fine text and opaque solids to be combined on the same plate.

James highlights: “We particularly appreciate the excellent cure response of the UVivid Flexo JD inks, which doesn’t compromise high throughput, together with their wide adhesion range, which gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our Flexo Line presses a variety of substrates.”

Edale’s decision to adopt Fujifilm’s UVivid Flexo JD inks on the “Flexo Line” range of presses in its showroom consolidates the relationship between the two leading print suppliers. The companies started their cooperation last year working on the development of the Graphium, a digital UV inkjet press manufactured by FFEI and based on the Edale FL-3 platform, which is distributed in the UK by Fujifilm. Graphium is designed specifically for printers specialising in the labelling and packaging sectors who want to increase margins and revenue streams on their short to medium print runs.

James emphasises: “Due to the collaborative working with Fujifilm on the Graphium project we increased our knowledge of the company’s offering. The key benefits provided by Fujifilm UVivid Flexo inks persuaded us to take our partnership to the next level.” He explains: “We not only work together on the research and development of advanced pieces of equipment, but we’ve also joined forces to organise training events for the flexo industry.
