February 4, 2014 (press release) – Switzerland-based food processing and packaging company Tetra Pak will shut down its plant in Moerdijk, the Netherlands, in end 2014. The move is expected to cut 215 jobs at the site. The shutdown has been attributed to decreasing demand for beverage cartons across the European market amid overcapacity at other Tetra Pak plants in the Central and Northern Europe. The company's sales in the Central and Northern Europe were 16% lower in 2013 compared with 2007.
