Coca-Cola Philippines optimistic for its continuous growth in domestic market this year, says company's president and general manager; company's investments for strong brand will continue to be a growth driver

February 3, 2014 () – With the 7.2 percent gross domestic product (GDP) growth of the local economy, leading cola brand in the country Coca-Cola Philippines is also optimistic for its continuous growth in the domestic market this year.

Coca-Cola Philippines president and general manager Guillermo Aponte told reporters in an interview that the country's GDP growth will also bring positive condition in the local business environment.

For this year, actually we continue being very bullish with the performance of the economy and our business. We think, we are heading up for a very, very good year, Aponte said.

He noted that the company's investments for a stronger brand will remain to be a growth driver for Coca-Cola.

Obviously the most important growth driver for our business is all what we are doing in our investments he said citing the new 10 peso-bottle Coke Mismo launched last year which Aponte said is a transformation in the beverage industry in the Philippines.

He is also expecting the summer season to be growth driver for Coca-Cola Philippines.

One of the things that we foresee definitely is its going to be much better weather during the summer where the peak season for our business, he said.

Also, Aponte mentioned that Coca-Cola remains unfazed amid the competition in the beverage industry in the country as the company is confident with its performance in the local market for the past century.

Competition in the Philippines is not new. We have been here for 100 years and we still lead this industry. So we count on that fact, he said.

The competition will be there and will do our job as well. The competitive edge we have is, first and foremost, our people. Second, we have the strongest and most preferred brand.
