SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, California , January 31, 2014 (press release) – On Friday, January 31, 2014, the U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) published the “Notice of Objections Filed” to the final plan that will guide management of National Forest System lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin over the next 15 years.

The plan now enters a 90-day objection resolution period, during which the Forest Service will work with those objecting to determine whether the agency can resolve their concerns. Because the plan is approved by Regional Forester Randy Moore, the Chief of the Forest Service in Washington, DC, will oversee the objection resolution process. After the objection resolution period, the Regional Forester will sign a Record of Decision (ROD), and the revised Forest Plan will take effect.

The LTBMU received 12 objection letters from individuals and groups regarding the revised plan. The objections, published in the newspaper of record, the Sacramento Bee, are available for viewing at http://www.fs.usda.gov/goto/ltbmu/ForestPlanRevision.

Within 10 days of the publication date of the Objection Notice, individuals or organizations with an interest in the resolution of an objection may send a request to the reviewing officer to participate in the objection resolution process.

More information on how to participate in the objection process is available at http://www.fs.usda.gov/goto/ltbmu/ForestPlanRevision.
