LOS ANGELES , January 31, 2014 () – SCA Hygiene Australasia has officially opened an AU$60 million (US$52.5 million) expansion of its toilet paper manufacturing facility in Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, the New Zealand Herald reported Jan. 31.

The company is a joint venture between SCA and Pacific Equity Partners and has a 30% share of the local toilet tissue and paper towel market. It expects the upgrade to help fight competition from growing Asian imports.

SCA Hygiene President Peter Diplaris said the upgrade has created 10 new jobs at the plant.
