Hormel Foods announces following retirements: William F. Snyder, SVP, supply chain; David P. Juhlke, VP of human resources; and Michael L. Devine, VP of operations, grocery products

AUSTIN, Minnesota , January 30, 2014 (press release) – Hormel Foods Corporation (HRL), today announced the upcoming retirements of William F. Snyder, senior vice president - supply chain, David P. Juhlke, vice president of human resources, and Michael L. Devine, vice president of operations - grocery products.

“Thank you to Bill, Dave and Mike for their long-term careers at Hormel Foods. We greatly appreciate their leadership and wish each of them the best in their retirements,” said Jeffrey M. Ettinger, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer at Hormel Foods.

The following advancements will take place as a result of the retirements:

Bryan D. Farnsworth, vice president of quality management, will advance to the position of senior vice president - supply chain, effective March 3.

Lawrence C. Lyons, director of human resources, will advance to the position of vice president of human resources, effective March 3.

Donald J. Temperley, director - pork operations and procurement, will advance to the position of vice president of operations - grocery products, effective April 28.

Richard A. Carlson, vice president of quality management at Jennie-O Turkey Store, will advance to vice president of quality management at Hormel Foods, effective March 3.

Snyder

In 1980, Snyder began his career at Hormel Foods as an industrial engineering trainee at the Austin (Minn.) Plant. He progressed through several industrial engineering and supervisory roles in Austin and at the Stockton (Calif.) Plant. In 1995, he advanced to plant manager of the Beloit (Wis.) Plant; he became the plant manager of the Fremont, (Neb.) Plant later that year. Snyder was named vice president of refrigerated foods in 1999, and has been in his current role since 2005.

Juhlke

Juhlke joined Hormel Foods in 1983 as an industrial engineering trainee at the Ottumwa (Iowa) Plant. He transferred to the Corporate Office (Austin, Minn.) in 1985 in the role of compensation analyst, and then advanced to supervisor of compensation. In 1993, he became the manager of personnel and industrial engineering at the Beloit Plant. He was promoted to the director of human resources in 1996 at Jennie-O Turkey Store, and to vice president in 2001. Juhlke has been in his current role since 2005.

Devine

After joining Hormel Foods in 1976, Devine held a variety of production management positions at the Fort Dodge (Iowa) Plant, Beloit Plant and the Plainview, Minn., facility. In 1994, he transferred to the Corporate Office in the role of product manufacturing manager – grocery products. Devine became plant manager of the Stockton Plant in 1996. He has been in his current role since 2008.

Farnsworth

In 1981, Farnsworth began his career with Hormel Foods at the Fremont Plant. He held a variety of quality and process control positions at the Fremont Plant, Corporate Office, Austin Plant, Beloit Plant and at Jennie-O Turkey Store. He gained plant manager experience in 1995 at Jennie-O Turkey Store, and moved back to the Corporate Office in 1996 as director of quality management. Farnsworth has held his current position since 2005.

Lyons

Lyons joined Hormel Foods in 1978 as an industrial engineering trainee at the Fort Dodge Plant. In 1981, he became a compensation analyst at the Corporate Office, and later became industrial relations supervisor. In 1988, he transferred to the Beloit Plant in the role of manager of personnel and purchasing. Lyons became the corporate manager of safety and security at the Corporate Office in 1993, followed by other human resources roles including manager of employee relations and director of personnel. He has been in his current role since 2006.

Temperley

Temperley joined FDL Foods in 1982 (which became Rochelle (Ill.) Foods in 1993) and held various production management roles. In 1993, he advanced to superintendent of processed meats. He transferred to the Austin Plant in 1996 as superintendent of cured and smoked meats production, and advanced to manager of pork processing in 2000 at the Corporate Office. Temperley was named plant manager of the Fremont Plant in 2005. He has been in his current role since 2012.

Carlson

In 1990, Carlson began his career with Hormel Foods as quality and process control engineer at the Austin Plant. He has held quality assurance and production management positions at the Stockton Plant, Owatonna (Minn.) facility and at Jennie-O Turkey Store. In 2001, he was named director of quality assurance at Jennie-O Turkey Store. He has held his current position since 2010.
