LOS ANGELES , January 24, 2014 () – Vietnam’s deputy prime minister Vu Van Ninh met with Wal-Mart’s Senior Vice President of Global Sourcing to Ignacio Lopez to discuss Wal-Mart’s involvement with the Vietnamese market, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Jan. 8.

Wal-Mart had previously expressed intentions purchasing Vietnamese-made footwear, clothing and household equipment for retail sale at its stores in several countries, Industry Intelligence reported on Jan. 8.

Vietnam hopes working with Wal-Mart will support the country’s Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations and free trade pacts in other countries, Ninh said.
