LOS ANGELES , January 23, 2014 () – Mondelez International Inc. is considering an investment of about £75 million (US$124.6 million) to upgrade and modernize its Cadbury confectionery facility in Bournville, Birmingham, England, The Guardian reported Jan. 23.

The move would secure the next generation of chocolate manufacturing at the factory, which was opened in 1879 and turns out 1.2 million Creme Eggs, 5.5 million bars of chocolate and 400 million Dairy Milk Buttons a day among other products, the company said.

Mondelez said securing the investment depended on the results of consultations with employees to cut costs and change ways of working.
