U.K.-based case goods manufacturer Nathan Furniture Ltd.’s introduction to the U.S. market last year has been a success, according to the president of the company’s U.S. operations, Furniture Today reported on Jan. 21.
Nathan Furniture appeared at the October High Point Market last year, and at this year’s April High Point Market, the company’s display will occupy twice the space of its first showing, said Nathan Furniture USA President Bill Cubberley.
Eight sales employees were able to start 30 accounts in the U.S. market, and at the current growth rate, Cubberley believes accounts could total 100 by the year’s end.
Via a warehouse the company has established in Eden, North Carolina, Nathan Furniture is set to receive its first shipments for the U.S. market next month, some from the U.K. and some from Indonesia.
Cubberley calls the casual small-home and condo furnishings “exquisite”. Pieces include casual dining, occasional furniture, home entertainment and bookcases. Teaks, oak solids and veneers are the base materials for elegantly-styled furniture with retro-Scandinavian designs reminiscent of those popularized in the 1970s.
