ROCK HILL, South Carolina , January 20, 2014 () – InChem Corp., headquartered in Rock Hill, S.C., is continuing the expansion of its custom and toll chemical manufacturing operations with the purchase of its third chemical manufacturing site in the Carolinas. This includes a $15 million investment commitment in plant, real estate and equipment, and will create 40 new jobs over the next three years. The company’s new site is located at 12345 Steele Creek Road in Charlotte.

“Plans are already underway to install significant additional reaction capacity,” said Steve Crownshaw, InChem president. “Planned investments include hot oil heated, continuously stirred reactors; wiped film evaporation systems; solids separation and handling; and a new glass-lined reactor system. In addition, several small scale manufacturing systems will be relocated to the new site to create a state- of-the-art pilot and scale-up facility. This is a strategic investment that will help meet the growing needs of our expanding customer base. We did not seek incentives, but this would not have been possible without the support of PNC Bank,” Crownshaw said.

“We are excited about the opportunity to help a longtime client grow his already successful business in the Carolinas,” said Weston M. Andress, PNC regional president, Western Carolina.
The new site already has installed chemical manufacturing infrastructure including extensive laboratories and operating utilities.

“With more than 100,000 square feet of warehousing and 300,000 gallons of stainless steel storage tanks already installed, customers can be assured that materials management will be best in class. The site also has a 25,000-square-foot advanced laboratory,” added Crownshaw. “With three sites in close proximity, having multi-site manufacturing operations guarantees our customers uninterrupted supply and minimizes administration overhead costs.”

InChem Corp., with other plants in Rock Hill, S.C., and Duncan, S.C., is one of America’s largest privately owned chemical companies, with annual sales of more than $150 million. It is the sole U.S. manufacturer of phenoxy, an epoxy-like resin with a wide range of adhesion, coating and enhancement applications. Its other custom and standard chemical formulating and processing services are sold to the world’s largest chemical companies and other manufacturers. Learn more at inchemcorp.com.

“InChem’s decision to expand in Mecklenburg County and the Carolinas reinforces the area’s growing demand for manufacturing jobs,” said Bob Morgan, president of the Charlotte Chamber. “Charlotte has long been a leader in attracting manufacturing companies because of our skilled workforce, affordability and strong partnerships with the higher education community for worker-training programs.”
