Vermont-based wood pellet manufacturer seeking to expand in New York's Adirondacks region could be attracted by newly-unveiled initiative encouraging conversion to wood fuel systems from oil heating, says state senator

LOS ANGELES , January 13, 2014 (press release) – A Vermont-based wood pellet manufacturer seeking to expand in New York’s Adirondacks region could be attracted by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s newly-unveiled initiative that would encourage converting oil heating systems to wood fuel, The Post Star reported on Jan. 10.

In her comments following a State of the State follow-up presentation on Jan. 10, New York state Sen. Elizabeth Little said that any facility built by the unnamed company would not generate too much traffic or emissions. The company is considering locations in the Adirondacks, not specifically in Warren County, Little noted.

Little added that she did not know how many people would be employed at the facility, which would benefit the state’s forestry industry by creating a new market for low-grade wood.
