LOS ANGELES , January 14, 2014 () – Egger Group has completed construction of an 83-megawatt (MW) bioenergy plant at its particleboard mill in Radauti, Romania, Balkans.com Business News reported on Jan. 10.

It took 13 months to build the €35 million bioenergy plant, which was fully financed by the Austrian company, said Egger Radauti Technical Director Ioan Banciu.

Before the Radauti plant was completed in October 2013, Romania had slightly more than 50 MW of incentive-funded bioenergy capacity in September, and Egger's bioenergy plant is now the largest in the country. Investors typically take interest in small plants of up to 5 MW, according to Balkans.com Business News.

The bioenergy plant now provides woodwaste-fueled heat and energy at the Radauti site, which according to Egger's website produces raw and laminated particleboard and began operations in 2008.
