Mondi Containerboard has opened a new storage location at its paper mill in Świecie, Poland. Capable of storing 80,000 tonnes in total, the new facility will increase the mill’s stock-holding capacity by 15,000 tonnes.
Maciej Kunda, Managing Director Mondi Świecie S.A. and COO Containerboard Mondi Europe & International, says: “We are delighted that our new storage location in Świecie is operational. Continuously increasing production output at the Świecie mill, as well as greater demand from European customers, have led to this investment. As a company, we strive for flawless service and on-time delivery, so customer-focused development is an important strategic pillar for us. Thanks to this recent improvement, we are taking another step forward to be the preferred containerboard supplier.”
The expansion was made possible by modifying an existing building. The new 20,000 m² storage hall ensures safe handling procedures and reduces internal stock movements in the mill which, as a result, reduces the risk of paper reel damage. Thanks to the mill’s strategic location in Europe, containerboard reels can be shipped from the warehouse by train or truck. Overall, the development will allow improved customer service, including greater paper availability, a better delivery capability, shorter average lead times, and improved delivery accuracy.
