NEW DELHI , December 29, 2013 () – In 2014 the biofuel boiler capacity in Ukraine increased by 60%.

By the end of 2013 the total installed capacity of thermal power generation that use biomass as energy in Ukraine increased by 60% compared with 2012 grew up to 137 MW.

According to the analytical report IBCentre, dedicated to the Ukrainian market of biomass in 2013 in Ukraine were built more than 20 major biofuel boilers with a total capacity of 36 MW, and about 40 small facilities with total capacity of 15 MW.

In addition, during this period in Ukraine was implemented a major project for the construction of a thermal power plant biomass with 6 MW capacity. Till the December 17 in Ukraine were built 6 items with total biomass power generation capacity in 11 MW.

At the same time, production growth in the segment of solid biofuels was less ambitious: the realization of fuel briquettes and pellets in 2013 reached 1 654 thousand tons, that is 9% more than in 2012.

The main trend of the biofuel market in 2013 was supply increasing to the domestic market, which is primarily associated with the development of the thermal generation of biomass. In particular, in the reporting period the ratio between exports and supplies to Ukrainian consumers was 60/40, while last year's exports were sent to more than 70% of its general production.

According to IBCentre analytics in 2014 the high rate of biofuel segment development will continue, the overall capacity of objects can increase by 55-60%. Huge investor interest in such projects is can be understand due to their high profitability: not less than 40% and a low barrier to enter the market (1 MW of installed capacity in the biofuel boiler is 14-15 times less than 1 MW of capacity in the segments of solar and wind energy).

Projects development by vertically integrated companies is one of the key themes at VI Ukrainian Biofuel Forum UBF-2014, which will be held in Kiev on 15-16 April 2014. Key industry event will be held at the Congress Centre of NSC "Olympiyskyi" and will consist of the Conference and specialized exhibition.

The event is organizing by the IBCentre with the support of Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine, as well as the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine.

UBF-2014 is going to be the business platform for manufacturers, traders, consumers of fuel pellets and briquettes, and producers and consumers of electricity and heat from biomass. Also important components of the Forum will be the production and use of biogas, as well as investments in the use of biomass as an energy source. Forum will be presented by more than 50 top industry experts as speakers more than from 12 countries.
